Real-time collaborative editing and alfresco

Well this is the thread I was looking for, but I'm kind of in awe that the response is so clear cut.

Does the Alfresco dev team actually believe there is no value in this feature?

I for one seek this feature, and I would like to know why it is not even being explored (or so I think). And if the situation has changed, what is the current state of this?
