'Read Permissions' for the Everyone group Issue

Hi All,

I have been using Alfresco for over a year now and so far it has been fantastic, however I have hit a snag today.

I am using Alfresco 4.0.d and accidentally removed the "Read Permissions" permission for the Everyone group from 4 Sites via the Share interface.

I really need to restore the "Read Permissions" permission for Everyone, however I am not a Java developer (I am the company's Technical Writer) so I am really stumped and none of our Systems Administrators can figure it out.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

the simplest solution I can think of is to make the affected sites private and then switch them back to the previous setting. This should reset the permissions. Otherwise, a small JavaScript script would be needed to specifically add the permission you removed.

Hi Axel,

Many thanks for responding, I have just tried setting the sites to Private and then back to Public, unfortunately the missing permission does not re-appear. Our administrators have found a very old snapshot of the server from August, we are going to roll back to that and re-upload any documents added since then.
