Problems starting Alfresco

Hello,

I've started alfresco after installing:
smitty-op:/opt/alfresco # ./alfresco.sh start
Using CATALINA_BASE:   /opt/alfresco/tomcat
Using CATALINA_HOME:   /opt/alfresco/tomcat
Using CATALINA_TMPDIR: /opt/alfresco/tomcat/temp
Using JRE_HOME:       /opt/jdk1.6.0_07/

Does this look like a correct start of alfresco? At least there are no error messages.

But if I browse to http://localhost:8080/alfresco (I used the IP instead of localhost, since I've tried it from outside the server) the side isn't displayed (message: "Although the side seems to be valid no connection could be established") . Now I'm not sure if Alfresco/Tomcart isn't started correctly or if it is a network/firewall problem.

Thomas

Hello,

I have now downloaded ImageMagick-6.4.3.gz.tar and put it (after gzip -d and tar -xvf) and in the directory  /opt/ImageMagick-6.4.3 and and added  /opt/ImageMagick-6.4.3 to PATH .
But the Error still occurs in the log (By the way the readme says that this should not cause the server to fail and there are other errors in the log concerning the database😞

So far I only did this:
Install JDK 5.0/6.0
——————-
- If you already have J2SE Development Kit 5.0 or 6.0 installed, skip to "Install Alfresco Tomcat Bundle"
- Browse to http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads
- Select the "JDK 6uN" option
- Download your preferred "Linux Platform" option (~45M)
- Install once downloaded
- Ensure the JAVA_HOME variable is set correctly

Install Alfresco Tomcat Bundle (I downloaded alfresco-labs-tomcat-3a.1032.tar.gz)
——————————
- Browse to http://www.alfresco.com/downloads
- Download the "Alfresco Linux Tomcat Bundle" option
- Create a directory named 'alfresco'
- Tar uncompress alfresco-tomcat-xxxxxx.tar.gz in the '/opt/alfresco' directory

Set Paths
———
Edit 'alfresco.sh' and check the variables are pointing to the location where Tomcat
is installed:
- For the Tomcat bundle, this will be '/opt/alfresco/tomcat' -> was already ok

Hello,

from what directory I can call apt-get (I get command not found); I'm working with OpenSuse but I'm quite a beginner on Linux.
Besides I want to use postgresql insted of mySQL, since thsi DB si already installed on the server. How can i configure Alfresco for postgresql: I found this in the wiki: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Database_Configuration

Regards

Hello,

no I haven't, but it worked up to now.  What means Smiley Tongueort already in use: 50500; nested exception is?

A process is already bound to port 50500. Make sure you are not running anything else on that port. Or most likely, Alfresco was not shutdown cleanly.

Hello,

ps -1 | grep java shows no entry after shutdown of Alfresco

Further I changed the configuration to use postgresql as described in the wiki, but I'm not sure if I understand this right:

* Ensure that the postgresql.conf file (pg_hba.conf for postgres 8.1.3) (refer to PostgreSQL documentation for more info on this file) contains:

host all all 127.0.0.1/32 password -> my pg_hba.conf entry shows: 'host all all 127.0.0.1/32 ident sameuser' is that wrong?

… to allow password-authenticated connections via TCP/IP.

* Do not forget to change the ownership of the directory tree specified in custom-data-location.properties (-> I can't find this file anywhere!) to be owned by the user running the alfresco server.

but I still can't run Alfresco and get this error message:
