Hello

My problem is simple. I cant even log in. Thats it.
When I go to localhost:8080/alfresco and enter the login/password admin/admin, it doesnt work.

In my opinion it must be because of this message that appears in the tomcat window:
Lyfecycle exception:service.getName(): "Catalina"; the starting of the protocal management has failed: java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind:8080

Actually I dont understand anything in that so if you have an idea about what the problem is please tell me.
I d also like a better explanation of the install process of alfresco than the official ones because I think they are not helping much.
I want to install alfresco and use a mysql database(I have version 4.1) and I have downloaded alfresco v2.0.

Your help would be greatly appreciated

Your port 8080 is allready in use …
You must have another server (apach, tomcat, … ) running on 8080 …
Shut it down before starting alfresco or solve the port conflict by changing the port of alfresco (\Alfresco\tomcat\conf\server.xml) or the port of your other server …

And to install Alfresco with mysql, it is very easy (with the bundle version): install mysql, run the script given with alfresco (extras\databases\mysql\db_setup.sql) and during the installation of Alfresco select "mysql" instead of "hsql"

I would like to add that most of the instructions about how to install alfresco are refering to "db_setup.bat" althougth after running the setup of alfresco v2.0 I have no such .bat. I also have nowhere in the setup process a moment where is asked something about the database I intend to use(it only asks what kind , mysql, oracle …).

I ve been trying to install this for hours and its still not working. So any tip on the matter would help me begin my real work. I m in a total loss here.

Have you succeed in solving your problem of port?

Thanks for the spontanous reply jay
The problem is that I have no idea what is using the port 8080. There should be nothing running when I launch alfresco.
And I did find the db_setup, thanks. It s just that by reading those install helps I assumed it would be in the same place than the start and stop .bat.
My bad.
Well anyways I changed the port like you suggested and it does work.
I at least have alfresco lauching himself normally.
Thanks for the help and I hope to benefit from your advice again in the near future.(For I have this ominous feeling that I WILL need help :?).
