Print and web publishing

My organization has an extensive catalog of information that we need to publish in printed form and on the web.  We currently store the information for printing in a desktop publishing system while the material for web publishing is managed as distinct HTML files.  We are looking for a solution that would enable us to manage one repsoitory of information that could be published to the web and as a printed document.  Will the new WCM offering provide this functionality?

WCM and Alfresco may be able to provide that for you but it  also depends on what kind of artifacts are going to be involved.  Your content needs to be able to be transformed IE (it is XML or some other transformable itmes) from its source to the target presentation. 

What type of desktop publishing system are you using?  What kind of outputs can it provide?  Even complex documents like PDF can be broken down and transformed into web content.  Many publishing systems can save in XML formats which makes them very suitable for transformation.

WCM would likely provide you with the transform capabilities, workflow, collaboration, preview and publishing along with all the normal stuff you would expect: searchability, versioning, checkin, checkout etc.

Yeah totally agree with rdanner it depends on what kind of artifacts are going to be involved.So best option for you is to follow him!!
