Preview Website in sandbox

hi ,

i m new to alfreco, i have created a web page name called mysite with the help of alfresco Studio, now i want to deploy my web page.. For this i did the following steps..

1. browse the alfresco url http://203.193.158.170:8080/alfresco/faces/jsp/dialog/container.jsp
2. select company home and select web project mysite
3. select the sandbox and click preview website
this will browse the url as http://admin.mysite.www--sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/
and show the the error page as
cannot display the web page

Anyone help me solve this..?

If it's a 404, then you've found the server, but it hasn't found a page on the server. The URL:

http://admin.emeraldhealthservices.www--sandbox.192-168-17-33.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/

will be looking for an index.html or index.jsp file, and if you don't have one of those you'll get a 404.

All the above suggests that the preview server is setup correctly, and that your browser can connect to it, it just can't find a valid page. Do you have any content in that sandbox at all? I'm guessing that if you try to preview an actual page, then it'll work. Alternatively, create an index.html in the sandbox and previewing the website should display that.

NB: Just noticed that you're using Alfresco Studio, which I haven't really used. I'm assuming things will work the same as for WCM.

Hi Sam,

Could you please tell me in detail about the wcm. If you have any guidelines kindly send it to me. And one more thing is surf framework and wcm is one and the same..? Because my requirement is to create a web site and deploy it into production server. If i use surf i need to create all xml files manually for page,template,template instance,etc.. Is there any other suggestions to create a web site..?

If i will use wcm, is that help me. If yes kindly let me know how to start with wcm.

First of all, have you tried the tutorials? See: http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Web_Studio_Tutorials

They should show you how to generate content in Web Studio and get things working.

Studio is a more 'graphical' way of designing websites than pure WCM. You can actually view your studio site in WCM by going to Company Home/Web Projects/mysite in the standard WebUI view.

I have ssame problem when i click preview template button it shows 404 not found error.
Url is:http://green.www--sandbox.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/

I want to know how to change the content in web page using wcm. And also could you please tel me in detail about the web forms. Is that help me to design the templates,pages,web-scripts,etc… If so how i ll change the index.jsp.

How you change WCM content depends on what it is. If it's a simple file (HTML for example) that you've added, then you can edit it in CIFS as you would any other file. If it's form data, then you edit the .xml using the WebUI, and the content rendition will be automatically generated when you've finished. It's probably best to look at some of the tutorials, since they'll cover things in a lot more detail than I could in a forum post.
