Posting to a Separate Lucene Index

I am in need of some help and direction.  What's the best way to post content within an Alfresco WCM repository to an external Lucene index?

Extend the FSR and implement a custom post commit call back to load the content into Lucene. http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/FSR#postCommit_callback.
