Possible problem with temp folder - server won't start up

Our server (built from latest source) crashed yesterday after running out of permgen space. After trying the fix for this problem as per this post, the server would not start up. I then reverted from this fix.

After reading this post, I suspected the Lucene indexes were corrupt. However the fix in that post didn't help.

I thought a config change was made somewhere that affected the Alfresco temp file folder. But can't find any such setting nor any modified config files changed in the last few days.

Below is the exception being thrown. I believe the problem lies in the space that appears after "temp" in the temp folder path:

C:\Alfresco\tomcat\temp \Alfresco

Does anyone have any ideas on what's wrong?

Looks like I owe my coworker a beer; he fixed the problem.

While experimenting with the startup options in the tomcat5w.exe config program, I accidentally left a space at the end of this java option:

-Djava.io.tmpdir=C:\Alfresco\tomcat\temp

Don't do that!
