Portrait and Landscape for doc preview

I've looked through the forums searching for any bugs or issue resolutions to this. When I upload a spreadsheet the document is in portrait view instead of landscape. Is there a fix for this? Before you ask…yes the properties of the spreadsheet are in fact landscape. I've triple checked that. It doesn't change the view. Using 4.2.c.

You don't specify what format your spreadsheet is, but I will assume MS Excel.

Unless you have special viewers the preview will be generated by passing your spreadsheet through LibreOffice and convering it to PDF. My guess is that LibreOffice is not respecting the page set up either on the import or on the PDF export. I can't offer a solution other than getting a copy of LibreOffice and testing out how it displays / exports your spreadsheet under the desktop software and "fiddling" with the settings to see if you can get it to play nicely.

So I did what you suggested and looked at the spreadsheet through libreoffice and the page attributes are the same. The only thing I did change was the font size and uploaded it to alfresco again. When doing that it showed more columns of the file. So I think it would have to be how alfresco handles the document when in the viewer.

I had not considered this, but the last phase of the preview is converting the PDF output from LibreOffice to an swf to display in flash using pdf2swf.exe. Maybe that doesn't respect page orientation.

Again I'm afraid no direct "fix" but pdf2swf is open source so you could check it out & see what it does.
