Permissions on Company home > Sites folder

In order to be able to customize the dashboard for normal users, the permission on the folder "Company home > Sites" must be the defualt "Everyone -> Counsumer"

Setting this permission only on the "Company home > Sites> surf-config" doesn't work as I would expected

Could you clarify your posting please.    What are you trying to do and why?      What is the problem you are seeing?  

I don't think fiddling with surf-config is going to be advisable.

What I'm trying to do is this: i want to remove the read permission to the group "EvereyOne" because i want the default behavior being "you can see only what i told you can see"

So, I've removed the Read permission to Everyone on the root repository Node.
This create two problems for users without read permission on the "Company home > Sites" folder:
1) user now cannot remove dashlet from they dashboard (instead he can add a new dashlet)
2) new users cannot remove the initial "welcome/help" yellow box on the dashboard

Setting read permission to EveryOne back on the  "Company home > Sites" folder solves this problems

Is the problem more clear?
