Hi,
I've been enabling CIFS in Afresco 2.0 under windows XP and it worked fine while logging under admin/admin.
Then I've been configuring LDAP and login into alfresco using my ldap username/password also worked fine.
However, when I try to launch CIFS the prompt wouldn't login me in with my ldap username/password. In the logs it is printed "access denied".
I'm using the passthru authenticator and openldap.
Does anybody have an idea why I can't login with CIFS with my Ldap account ?

Same problem here.  It would be real nice to read about a solution for openldap and cifs functionality.
Thanks
Jim

Per the documentation, CIFS does not work with LDAP unless you have MD4 password capability on your LDAP server and have it configured to utilize MD4. (Few have this, MD5 is the standard for LDAP)

With Alfresco v2.1 you apparently cannot disable CIFS either, so I'm currently running LDAP for one set of authentication for Liferay, and using the native authentication for the Alfresco instance for two sets of accounts and no seamless SSO. CAS, while an option, really increases the solution footprint beyond what I wish to run.
