When clicking the "Edit Online" Butten in Alfresce Share, Word cannot open because it attemps to get the document via such a URL:

https://<computer name>:7070/alfresco/<site name>/documentlibrary/<document name.doc>

However. I believe that this must fail, because, I have looked, the <computer name> is NOT the Domain but the Windows-intern Computername, which cannat contain "." and so on

How can I tell Alfresco to use Domain Name?

Is it OK to use SSL in this case?

Regards

Thorsten

Hello,

this is a rather simple configuration option in alfresco-global.properties - "vti.server.external.host" should be set to a proper domain name clients can resolve.
SSL in principle - as far as I understand it, but I may be lacking here - should work even with a Windows host name instead of a proper domain name, but I wouuld expect Microsoft products to have problems with their security zone configuration and associated weirdness.

Axel

Hello Axel,

thank you for your help, It seems to solve the problem because the browser now attempts to open from the correct domain, but I have another problem that the Office Plugin crashed in Firefox and Chrome, Safara is also not working and IE seemingly have no reaction of clicking "Edit online"

And sometimes word alerts "certificate failure" (Zertifikatsfehler) "when loading SSL libraries"

What can I do?

best regards

Th
