Office-Addon doesn't auth at company proxy

I can connect to Alfresco-server from MSOffice-Addon succesfully - if i browsed a internet site with Internet Explorer before. If not, i can't use the addon because i get an error "Can't authenticate …blah…". After establishing a connection through the company proxy by surfin with the IE all works fine. We use the IE proxy autoconfiguration feature and Alfresco 3.2r Community Edition

This seems to be the same issue as why i can't use Chrome/Iron browser inside of the company network.  :?:

PS: it would be nice if the addon would ask for the domain account to auth against the proxyserver, if it can't use the IE proxy autoconfiguration.

Mario

The add-in is a wrapper for IE (try right-clicking!), so if you can connect automatically with IE you should be able to connect with the add-in.

Are you saying you need to enter your domain account details the first time you use IE?

No, i doesn't need to authenticate myself explicitly.

And i use different accounts from different Active Directories for Alfresco and Proxy:

Account1: authentication inside of the worldwide company network, in this network the proxy server does reside
Account2: authentication for Alfresco and some other ressources, this network is only for our department and has its own AD

Both networks aren't connected together, communication runs only over internet.

Then sorry, that's not a deployment we support. You can either raise an enhancement request in JIRA or grab the source code and add the functionality yourself.

Thanks,
Mike

Hm, i thought the IE would use my credentials, which i used for login to the local network, for authentication against the proxy and then submit the given account from the addon to logon to alfresco, shouldn't it?

Yes, I'd have thought so too, but apparently something in that mechanism isn't quite working how we expect.

I raised a bug report in JIRA: https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALFCOM-3656

Thanks for your advice and support.

Hi,
It seem we have a similar problem. The proxy server in internet explorer has an exclusion for the alfresco server, because it is on internal network. If we access Alfresco Server via internet explorer this proxy exclusion takes effect. Somehow the Office Add-In does not read the proxy exclusions and tries to access Alfresco Server though proxy which is not possible. What can we do to avoid this problem?

Thanks,
Claudio
