Not possible to install plugin 'Activiti BPMN 2.0 designer'

Hello,

according to
   http://www.activiti.org/userguide/index.html#eclipseDesignerInstallation
I want to "Install new Software…" ( > Help-Menu) in
   Eclipse SDK (64-bit-Version: 4.2.2, Build id: M20130204-1200)

I get the message
   Unable to connect to epository
   http://activiti.org/designer/update/content.xml

… I think because the file "content.xml" doesn't exist under
   http://activiti.org/designer/update/

Is there anyone who can tell me an easy way(!) to solve the problem?
(I think, I need some more information and details, because I'm an absolute beginner.)

Hi Morena,

That file is available on the URL, it's just not accessible via a web browser.
This error typically happens when you're behind a firewall that's blocking access to this URL.
Are you able to install other plugins in your Eclipse environment?

That's an odd thing, because if I open the link
http://activiti.org/designer/update/content.xml
on my iPhone, I also get the message "Not Found".

Whatever, I have no idea about "intall other plugin"… 😞

Can you give me a link to test it, please?

Or can you tell me a possibility to local-install a downloaded zip-file from
http://activiti.org/designer/archived/ ?

The only one what I want is to test the "Activiti BPMN 2.0 designer"… 😉

Hi Morena,

That's correct, so it is supposed to give that message in every browser, also on your iPhone.
If the update site is not working for you, then yes you can use the archived link.
Just download the latest version (5.11.2) and just select local or archive in the installation wizard.

I tried to install from archive-zip-file…

Unfortunately I got the following message:

Cannot complete the install because one or more required items could not be found.
  Software being installed: Activiti Eclipse BPMN 2.0 Designer 5.11.2 (org.activiti.designer.feature.feature.group 5.11.2)
  Missing requirement: Activiti Eclipse BPMN 2.0 Designer 5.11.2 (org.activiti.designer.feature.feature.group 5.11.2) requires 'org.apache.commons.lang 2.3.0' but it could not be found
 
I'm afraid, it will be to complicated for me… 🙂
I can imagine, that's a version-problem (operating system, eclipse, activiti-plugin)…

If you have an explaination and an idea for an easy way to solve the problem, I'll give me the last chance…
