Not possible to add metadata with spanish characters

We have an Alfresco 1.3 Tomcat on Windows O.S platform. We have notice recently a problem when entering metadata with spanish character like accents
Any clues?

Have you created your database as "utf-8" tables? As otherwise you will get this problem.

The problem has ocurred short time ago, before this the behaviour was correct. Right now the metadata added before the characters appears right but now when we add some metadata with accents or other spanish caracters appears with strange characters (ex. mañana)

This behavior was caused short time ago. In this implementation the spahish symbols were saved correctly before this. All this data saved before has the spanish symbols right.
Please, any extra help?
