New Installation Remote Database

Hi,

I've installed the latest Alfresco 5.0.d and have chosen advanced install, where I removed the Postgres support, since I already have a remote postgres database running. I've correctly updated the alfresco-global.properties, which contains the following:

db.driver=org.postgresql.Driver
db.username=alfresco
db.password=alfresco
db.name=alfresco
db.url=jdbc:postgresql://alfresco:5432/${db.name}
db.pool.max=275
db.pool.validate.query=SELECT 1

I can login to the remote database with psql, where there aren't any tables in the alfresco database as seen below:

When starting alfresco, the alfresco.log contains the following errors about schema auto-update failing.

Since the DB hasn't yet been created, I'm guessing this has something to do with running Alfresco. Therefore, if anybody know something about this, please share your comments below, which might help others when stumbled upon the same problem.

I have the same type of setup. If you are just wanting to use a different postgresql server and don't have any data as of yet. Then do the following:

1. Scrap your alfresco install and install again and include the postgresql option.
2. Do a dump of the database and then import it to your other instance of postgresql.
3. Scrap this install of alfresco and then re-install again. Point to the new database.
Should have no issues with doing that.

What I'm actually doing is including postgresql in my install but I've changed the location of alf_data (which also has the database with it) to a SAN.

Anyways You still have to make sure that you point some config files to the new location.

install/postgresql/scripts/ctl.sh

Edit the top of the file to the new loction.

POSTGRESQL_PIDFILE=/path/to/your/alf_data/postgresql/postmaster.pid

POSTGRESQL_START="/opt/alfresco42f/postgresql/bin/pg_ctl start -w -D /path/to/your/alf_data/postgresql"
