Hello -

First, thanks to everyone who has posted and especially to those who have taken time to answer questions in the Alfresco forums. In an effort to recognize those who have gone the extra mile in the forums, we've turned on the phpBB ranking feature.

We are using the following titles and number of posts for each title:

5-20 posts> Community Member
21-50 posts> Community Contributor
51-100 posts> Pro Community Contributor
101 – 150 posts> Community Achiever
>150 posts> Community Guru

We'll publish the top contributors on developer home page each month. Even though we know you answer questions to support each other and to help build a strong community, we are also looking for other, more tangible ways to say "thank you".

Ideas?

Hi Nancy,

thank you for a very nice initiative.. I would like to throw one idea.  While I was working with Documentum, I was actively participating in EMC's, internal forum which is quite active and helpfull. They have established a system where user who has posted the question has an option to reward a user who has posted an answer with, I think, 5 points if an answer is a solution to a problem, or 2 points if an answer is helpfull but does not really solves the problem entirely. Comunity members are than ranked by number of points, and different titles and avatars are given.

This number of points, besides recognition from community, could also present a really strong reference when you negotiate contract, and this is something really tangible Smiley Happy..

Kind regards,

Denis

Denis,

Thanks so much for your suggestion. We are looking at ways to extend the recognition program to include other ways of contributing and a point system is a great idea.

I'll keep you posted as we make progress.
