National characters and metadata extracting

Doing uploads of MS Word document in web interface.
Using swedish version of OpenOffice and Alfresco 1.0 JBoss bundle on Linux SLES 9.
Extracting of metadata fails for national characters.

Opening the same MS Word dokument in OpenOffice correctly shows the same metadata.

Have I missed something during configuration?
Everything else (WEBDAV, CIFS, webb interface etc) seems OK.

Hi,

Metadata extraction from MS Word documents are made with the Apache POI libraries. I tried to reproduce problem with character äöåÖÅÄ, but extraction works correctly. How you created problematic document?
