Hello,
I was just wondering if anybody has any experience on backing up alfresco and wouldn't mind sharing with me on exactly how to do it. I looked at the Wiki and read the back up section. Unfortunately, I am not able to find dir.root. So if anybody could let me know how exactly where to find it I would really appreciate it.
I am currently running Alfresco community edition on Fedora Core 4.

Another question.
What exactly does the export do? does it create a back up? is it possible to export from ver 1.2.1 and import into ver 1.3?
Thanks

By reading through the some posts on the forum I am getting the impression that there are a few options.
Examples:
use import/export
backup MySQL db
create a copy alf_data
So I am wondering in order to have a comprihensive backup should I be doing everything or are there some methods which are better than others.

You have the following options to cold backup Alfresco:
a)
- Backup MySQL db (or your chosen db) - could be a file copy or mysql dump
- Backup the alf_data directory
b)
- Full Repository ACP Export
Note: option b) is only available from v1.3 onwards.
I would go for option a) unless you want migrate from one database to another.
