Hi,
On a regular basis we experience difficulties with online edit of Office files (Alfresco 4.2.f on Ubuntu server).
When a user edits a file online Alfresco shows the file is locked. When the user finishes this message disappears from Alfresco but unfurtunately when another user tries to edit that file online Office (e.g. Excel) tells this user the file is already locked for editing by another user.
The only way to fix this is to delete the file and upload the latest version again.
Cataline.out does not show any errors.
Does anyone experience this as well and is there a solution to this problem?
Kind regards,
Frank

Yes that is what I'm saying. the /share "unlocking" still will not take the lock off. You have to go to the /alfresco extension and unlock it that way. I think the security token that is being used when the file is in use isn't actually being dumped when the file is unlocked in /share.

What you say makes sense but it is impossible to do this for every lock.
In the forums I noticed more people have this problem but no real fix has been presented.
Next week we will migrate Alfresco to SSD disks to see if this problem disappears when the system acts quicker. Otherwise I cannot explain why this is happening.

We have the same issue and we can't unlock or cancel editing neither from /share nor /alfresco.
Any idea? We would like to migrate our windows file share to Alfresco but this kind of issues are a big stopper to our organization.
Thanks
