i would like to now if its possible to move the data and settings (i mean spaces and documents) from alfresco 3.2r to 3.3.
The point is that my alfresco 3.2r (on windows XP) is not loading because it can connect to MySql DB (i have tried to fix it but i couldn't), and as this is a very useful solution for my client and a lot of people are using it. i decide to install the version 3.3 on Ubuntu 10.04. Server
Witch is working smoothly. so i would like to move the data and the configuration from the old (not working) 3.2r to the new 3.3.
Please advise

http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Backup_and_Restore
You will need to dump and import the database contents into your new database and copy in the content store (the files below alf-data).
Then when you start alfresco it will update the data.

In which version was Alfresco working ? (you say it was in 32R2 but not working). Or there was a problem with the Mysql ? If yes… what's happened with it ?
Before doing the update, have you tried to start the server 3.3 (without your data) ? Working ?

I was using the version 3.2r on XP it doesn't startup, so i decided to move to linux, and installed it on Ubuntu server 10.04. the system is running fine without the data from 3.2r.
when i move the alf_data and the mysql data base it gives the errors that i posted here, that is the same that is happening on the XP machine.
i dont think its a mysql problem because when i try to launch Alfresco i receive a message that says "mysqld: ready for connections.".
and the catalina shows the same information that i posted on catalina.log

Your Alfresco log does not be complete….
Can you start Alfresco and post others logs (normally it's catalina.out), perhaps look for others logs files.
