Mismatched references for NTLM information?

I am trying to get NTLM authentication working from the Community zip at http://downloads.sourceforge.net/alfresco/alfresco-community-tomcat-2.1.0.zip?modtime=1185267412&big... (please tell me if I should be using something else).

The wiki, in the page at http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Configuring_NTLM#NTLM_Passthru_Authentication ,gives HOWTO steps that do not match the content of the ZIP archive. For instance, the first step is to change the Authentication Filter-related data in WEB-INF/web.xml (the NTLM settings are supposed to be present, but commented out), but there is no file named web.xml matching a case-insensitive search for "authentication". The wiki seems to be referring to something else from what I have.

(In general the instructions look like they're intended for a different version/product/etc. from what I'm running.)

Should I be working off something else in the wiki or the web, and if so, could someone post a link?

Should I be using a different packaging, distribution, etc.?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

The best Howto for LDAP-Sync and NTLM-Auth is here:

When I did that, I got basically the same thing: In the installation from http://downloads.sourceforge.net/alfresco/alfresco-community-tomcat-2.1.0.zip?modtime=1185267412&big..., there is no tomcat/WEB-INF directory; as mentioned earlier, none of the web.xml files in the directory tree contain the string "Authentication Filter" or "AuthenticationFilter". But step 1, as stated, is to edit lines of tomcat/WEB-INF/web.xml and change the parts that contain these strings.

This means that these instructions also begin with a step 1 that does not take this distribution into consideration.

What form should I download Alfresco in? The instructions do not say what they are working off of.

Hi

The web.xml file is actually in tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF

Thanks,
Mike

Thank you. We're exploring something else now; I'm glad to have that note "on file."

Yes I agree, I just finished reading it and posted a question relating to it.
