Mimetype in a custom type

I have created a custom document type in Alfresco and have included the mimetype property in the share-config-custom.xml file. When I change the type of the document, instead of a list, the mimetype property is a text field. I have included a screenshot of my issue.

What do your custom model and share-config-custom.xml look like?
Have you tried using constraints?

I will check it out. But isn't the mimetype property a list by default? I just wanted to know why is it not the same for my custom types.
