If your content is already on a network drive the easiest way is to copy in the files via CIFS or FTP.

As for metadata,  what sort of meta-data are you talking about.  And where is it stored?

In general if you have data in one content store and wish to transfer it into Alfresco then you will need to add some sort of translation unitity that takes the data and inserts it into Alfresco.   You will probably also want to do content modeling to describe your data.     The starting point for this is some analysis of your existing data. to see what you you have and want you want to keep.

It does not sound like you have any meta-data to worry about.

All you have to do is to copy your documents into Alfresco via the shared CIFS drive.      You could use windows explorer or a command prompt, or a unix shell, whatever you feel comfortable.

Then backup and delete your files from your shared network drive.   Or just make it read-only.   Alfresco is now your shared network drive and has your "live" versions of your documents.
