Migration from Oracle to MS-SQL Server

Hello,

Are thre any recommended guidelines to migrate an existing Alfresco repository from an Oracle database to MS-SQL Server?

Our existing document repository is currently based on an Alfresco 2.01 Community edition running on Oracle.

Our system administration has planned to upgrade to a new server, where he would like to deploy Alfresco 2.1 Enterprise on a MS-SQL Server database.

What are the recommended steps for the migration?

For instance: will the repository export / import process migrate also user and group definitions and ACLs associated to each space and document being migrated?

Or it will be necessary to manually recreate users and groups, and then reassign all security to each space and document in the repository?

The Full Repository Export will indeed export users and groups and ACLs. It does not support exporting WCM projects - but if you are not using them then that won't be a problem.

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks for the response.
We're not using WCM, so this will not be an issue.

Regarding the migration AND release upgrade (starting system: Alfresco 2.01 on Oracle - target system Alfresco 1.1 on MS-SQL Server)… is this an issue?

Maybe the safest thing to do is:
1) Upgrade the original system to Alfresco 2.1
2) Export the whole repository.
3) Import on the target system (already running on version 2.1)

Correct?

Yes that is the best route.

Thanks,
