Maven and Alfresco SVN

If i download the SVN and i make changes to it with eclipse. (Im trying to get the mytasks page to load automatically. To do this i figured i would change the getinstancetask method from "date" to priority.

Anyway once i do this how do i go about setting up Alfresco for a amp / war file to deploy in my already existing installation of alfresco?

i keep getting errors such as:

Failed to execute goal org.apache.maven.plugins:maven-surefire-plugin

is their any other software that will be more beneficial to do this?

I have also tried to use ant to build the file but that never works either.

You don't say what version of alfresco you are trying to build, or give details of the errors. 

But the 5.0 builds don't have Ant builds.  And the archetype for a maven amp project works fine, I built one this morning.
