Mapping of an existing folder to Alfresco space

Hello,

First, greetings to all. New to alfresco so please be patient if this has already been answered.

I would like create a space that maps to an existing folder that have a tree structure and each sub folder has some files. The request is to access the files through Alfresco API. I also want to add meta data to the contents for later search.

Can some one give me a pointer?

All files and folders have to be uploaded to the Alfresco Repository - there's no ability to use an ad-hoc folder on a local disk. You can use CIFS, FTP, WebDAV or one of the web clients to upload.
