Live site in a distinct alfresco repository

In my understanding it should be possible to have the live web site located in a different alfresco repository than the editorial one.

I'm looking for some documentation on how to configure web quick start to obtain this (I suppose that I have at least to specify where the target site is located) but I cannot find anything.
Someone pointed me to the Developer Guide but the "Publishing" section contains only some subsection titles without any real content (may be "Transfer Service" is what I'm looking for?).

Can someone point me to some documentation for this?
