Libreoffice fails on 5.0.c but OK on 5.0.a

I upgraded a 5.0.a Alfresco installation to 5.0.c on Centos Linux (Google Engine).

In both the 5.0.a and 5.0.c Linux installation Libreoffice doesn't start by default due to an error in alfresco.sh script. It calls libreoffice/scripts/ctl.sh whereas the actual file is named libreoffice_ctl.sh. If I make a symbolic link so that there is a file called ctl.sh, libreoffice starts. Everything worked OK with 5.0.a but with 5.0.c I get errors in the alfresco.log file indicating that libreoffice is not working.

If I replace the libreoffice directory in 5.0.c with that included with the 5.0.a distribution it works OK. Has anyone else seen this problem and /or can suggest a method to debug ?

OK … this was an 'own goal' 8-)
In a very confusing and undocumented feature, the startup script alfresco.sh is actually supposed to fail (and NOT start libreoffice). Apparently libreoffice is invoked in a different way and should not be started by the script. (it may be a remnant of how an earlier version was configured)
By 'correcting' the script I created a conflict.
