Kofax Release Script for Alfresco, based on WebScripts?

Dear all,

I read about a new release script being developed by Micro Strategies: http://drquyong.com/myblog/?p=43

Does anyone have seen something of this release script? Does anyone know under what license it is or will be available?

One of our clients is currently using the .NET/WebService release script by Aarden Ringcroft, but this version has a lot of probless and limitations, not to say that is has never left the development phase. Next to this the webservice interface of Alfresco, backed by AXIS, has its limitations too. In my opinion, using the webscript framework is the way to go.

I would love to see more of this new release script and use/test it.

Kindest regards,

Koen Bonnet

Koen,

I'm a member of the team at Micro Strategies that has worked on the release script based upon the Web Script framework. There is a Tech Talk that demonstrates the release script functionality (http://alfresco.na3.acrobat.com/p14235762/). We anticipate that the release script will be available as an Enterprise Add-on in the near future.

Jason

Hi Jason,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I did find and watched your presentation on Alf Live yesterday. I'm relieved there will be a professional solution for connecting Kofax to Alfresco. This customer will be using the enterprise edition in some time, so that's ok. Do you have anything more concrete on what is "near future"? Smiley Happy

Thanks so far,

Koen Bonnet

Koen,

Hopefully it will be within weeks, not months. Once I get something more concrete I'll post another reply with the details.

Thanks,

Jason

Any updates would be most appreciated, the old aardenringcroft release seems to have limitiations on the number of fields it can show.

Hello,
as an alternative, you may consider using the connector for I.R.I.S. imaging software.
I.R.I.S. products are excellent on many imaging aspects : high volume scanning, OCR, data extraction and high PDF compression.

They are now fully integrated with Alfresco using the connector we provide.
The connector is web scripts based, thus easy to customize for automatic classification and dispatching of scanned documents.
And it is available right now.

Hello Denis,

I dont think this is an option. The IRIS connector should then be installable in Kofax. Organizations in need of the Alfresco Release Script have already done a rather heavy investment in Kofax. For most of them it will not be an option to change to IRIS. Or am i mistaking and it is some kind of generic release script?

The MicroStrategies release script is handed over to Alfresco. Alfresco will distribute it as an Enterprise Addon. It is currently going through Alfrescos Q&A cycle.

Koen,

I confirm that the IRIS connector is not designed to be used with Kofax, just with IRIS products.
So this is an option mostly for organizations who haven't choosen a scanning/indexing software yet, … or already have selected IRIS.

Denis
