Is WCM Preview II Release still coming?

Hi.

I was wondering whether the WCM Preview II release, as described in the Web Content Management Plan is still coming?

Or will the next WCM release be a WCM beta release? If so: maybe Alfresco could update the release plan?

Edgar … will update the wiki roadmap today.

We are foregoing a second Preview release and going direct to BETA.  The reasoning here is that a second preview takes an additional amount of time for packaging and test, and we thought it best to economize and push forward directly with the final-form product.

Once you've reviewed the updated wiki, please let me know if you have any questions or would like a detailed walk-through of capabilities and proposed user experience.

Hi Kevin,

It looks like the roadmap still lists preview 2, and as overdue.

I'd be very interested even in a full-of-caveats nightly build-type preview since preview 1 was (understandably) rudimentary. Also helpful would be any draft docs on how to manipulate XML in templates for Web page navigation, breadcrumbs, info taxonomies, related localized versions, content reuse, etc. I've provided very little feedback on the theory that preview 2 would be the better place to concentrate efforts since many preview 1 bugs would be obvious and preview 2 would be where extra sets of eyes would be most useful. Also, with the feature set and documentation available in preview 1, digging in and providing meaningful comments on functionality is too laborious for someone who hasn't completely boarded the bandwagon.

Still excited about the product!

Hi,

Any updates on this from the Alfresco team?

The roadmap still has not been updated and we are very keen to start evaluating Alfresco WCM as soon as possible. Is there any news when the BETA comes out?

cheers,

Edgar

Edgar:  We plan on being functionally complete this Dec. 22nd, with BETA to follow shortly thereafter (early January).  We'll post an update to the roadmap next Friday.
