Hi folks,
is it possible to "upgrade" from enterprise edition 2.2 to community edition 3.4d ?

Thanks for your answers, Adelllka.

Should be possible.

Thanks for reply.

To be more concrete: customer had the 2.2 Enterprise version and decided to try community version. Therefore I had to migrate repository from 2.2 to 3.4 (well, a long journey). By following the migration schema in the documentation I did the upgrade. Everything went well, but finally the Alfresco 3.4 did not start with following error:

org.alfresco.error.AlfrescoRuntimeException: 022116248 Registry root not present:
   Store: system://system
   Path:  /sys:system-registry

As far as I've investigated that was supposed to be done by the patch patch.systemRegistryBootstrap. This patch is (unfortunatelly) implemented by the org.alfresco.repo.admin.patch.impl.NoLongerSupportedPatch, which does not do the business obviously.

Any suggestions?

You need to upgrade through an intermediate version then.

Thanks. That's what I've expected. Actually I tried to do so already….

But good news for me is that you think it should be doable this way.

I'll try again and maybe more carefully Smiley Happy

Yes Adelllka, it's possible.

Keep in mind that Alfresco merges the community code and the enterprise at determinated moments.

We have succeded in migrating several enterprise installations to community just putting the new war file.

If you have problems I would recommend you to do the upgrade from the most similar versions. For example moving first to the 2.2 community and and then do the upgrade to 3.1 or 3.2 prior to 3.4

You can't "upgrade" 2.2 Enterprise to 2.2 Community.    That's actually a "downgrade" and won't work :!:

Indeed I can't remember if is there any 2.2 community and in the forge there is only a 2.1 version, so yes it should be a downgrade. Not recommendable at all to do it.

All the enteprise users should have in mind to download all the licenses for all the available version before the support expires because then you can't obtain it. Having them should permit you to go straight to 3.X with the EE and then move to CE.

You can't use a trial version to do an upgrade because it will regret about the license.

BTW mrogers, I remember that in a test environment, by mistake, downgraded a 3.3 to 3.2 and worked , lucky me? I think that you can expect some unpredictable results but at least didn't ruin the installation
