Inviting other users in collaboration of a content in a HIDDEN/PRIVATE user space

Hello, I am new in using Alfresco. I have a question. All my user spaces are HIDDEN/PRIVATE from other users so that the owner of the user space has the only one access to it. Lets say that the owner wants to share a content in his/her space and invite a user, how is it? I keep trying it, but everytime I log in as another user, I cant find the shared content of the previous user.
Does it mean the user have to share his/her whole space to user so that that user has also the access of the content?
Please help me.. It is my project in my practicum. Thank you very much.

Hi

Can you maybe give the steps that you follow to do this and what version of Alfresco you are using. are doing this from share or explorer interface?

make sure that you understand what/how "inherit permissions" work.

I am using alfresco 4.2.c. I like to do this in Share.

For example, in the Home Space Directory in the Repository, I have user spaces A and B. All these space are private or hidden. I did this by leaving a blank in the web-client-config.xml. I did this because my OJT supervisor told me that he wanted to make  the content items of "A" hidden from "B". It will only become visible to B if A shares these content items to B. Now, I have no idea about this.

I did share one item from "A". Then I logged in using B. But I didnt see the item which "A" shared.

I think I understood "inherit permissions". Correct me if I am wrong, if this is checked, then the parent permission is inherited to  the current item/space I am doing?

Thank you for the help..
