Intermittent JMX Refused Connection Errors - Critical (!)

Hi All,

Since the past few days I've been receiving Connection Failure To Alfresco JMX Remote Server errors.

All was stable up until a few days prior and now the error is persistent.

Upon restarting Alfresco, all successfully loads, users can log in and access. However a short time later, the connection crashes again and the virtual server no longer functions.

The trigger for the connection break may be due to attempting to access the repository.

On the host machine, vmauthd and perflib errors are occurring. I disabled vmauthd however that was of no improvement.

Additional undertakings thus far:

Reviewed logs

Configured/Re-configured global and local security policies

Configured VM running as a service with full privelege

Hard-code of local IP in alfresco-virtserver.properties

Verified NICs have Network Bridging checked

The main issue is the intermittent loss of connection after and the trigger thereof.

Very thankful for your solutions. (!)

Follow-Up Troubleshooting Question:

Will Alfresco function properly if I disable JMX?

Many Thanks

This issue has now been narrowed down to the following:

From a total of 9 sites in Share, one site when accessed produces the error mentioned above.

The question now changes to how and why does one site of many in Share trigger the connection crash.

Any ideas? Could it have anything to do with a particular post from a user perhaps?

The virtual server is irrelevant to Share.   What's the problem?  If there is an exception message, what is it?

Thanks for your response.

Error message was as indicated in first post - "Connection Failure To Alfresco JMX Remote Server"

I turned RMI off and the error didn't appear again, however errors still persist.

There is one site on share that creates the connection crash whenever any user accesses it.

UPDATE:

I've localised the issue now to the document repository in one particular share site. All other share sites function properly, however when accessing one particular site's document library, the connection crash is brought about and both explorer and share are no longer reachable.

I created a new space, imported the malfunctioning's spaces content, and recreated the error. I repeated this 3x with same result each time.

I've now gone the route of importing each section (wiki, blog, calender etc…) which at the onset seemed to bring a solution.

Calender transferred fine (copy from broken share site to newly created share site) however, blogs, discussions, wiki did not. In Explorer, the copy process is successful and assets are viewable on the Explorer side, however in Share, not viewable/accessible.

Ideas?

As I said above the connection to the VS via JMX is not relevant to Share.    That's not the cause of your problem.

What you need to do is provide details of the errors that are relevant to Share and your site.   For a start look in the Alfresco.log file and post any excptions and stack traces.

Yes. as mentioned above, I'm already past RMI/JMX.

I stated one particular share site's Document Library has somehow gotten "broken" and continually produces the connection crash.

It appears through a user-upload to the Document Library, that share site was rendered non-functional .

Upon export of non-functioning site's data (.acp) and import into newly created share site, the error repeated.

Upon migrating each file from corrupted site's Document Library manually into newly created share site, newly created share site did not produce any errors.

Would dialling into the corrupted Alfresco share site through JConsole bring further root cause information?
