The documentation "Alfresco 4.0.1 Documentation > Installing > Installing Alfresco Enterprise > Installing Alfresco on Tomcat" says to create folder shared/lib inside $TOMCAT_HOME.
Create the directories required for an Alfresco installation:
Create the shared/classes directory. Create the shared/lib directory.
However there is no information in the document regarding what to put in this directory. Can anyone let me know what is the purpose of creating this directory. ?
Its for Database drivers. And any other libraries you may require. You don't strictly need it, alfresco will run without it - but it won't hurt and is part of the standard install pattern.
