I installed Alfresco Community Edition on both Windows and Linux (Fedora 16). After installation on Windows I was able to access the start page http://127.0.0.1/share/pages/site-index and log in with my admin username and password. No matter what after installation on Fedora 16 I get this error:
"the remote server may be unavailable or your authentication details have not been recognized"
I've read that one must wait for a bit for the software to start up but I've now waited for about 15 minutes and still get the same issue. This being on a quad processor with 4GB RAM. The install completed with no complaints. Anyone know what's going on here?
Thanks!

Have you started Alfresco. Are there any errors?
