I installed  "Alfresco-Labs-3c-Linux-x86-Install" in Ubuntu 8.10

I tried the path "http://localhost:8080" in browser to run the application.

The system performance gets reduced.

The browser keeps on loading for a long time….

The log file shows "Successfully initialised web framework"

Could anyone help with this problem..???? :x  :x  :x

Are you sure that you have started correctly the application server?

Maybe you would like to go here for you Alfresco Login page:

http://localhost:8080/alfresco

Try and let me know Smiley Wink

Hope this helps.

I tried the same "http://localhost:8080/alfresco"

But still my browser keeps on loading.

the log file shows "successfully initialised web framework".

It takes a few minutes for the java to start alfresco.  If its a fresh install it takes a few more moments to load the database.

Maybe hold on for 3-4 min and try again.
You can watch the java process with "top" on then wait till it stops running 100% cpu.
Then alfresco is ready.

Also try  http://alfresco_server_ip:8080/share/   and try ftp://alfresco_server_ip  and try for windows \\alfresco_server_ip\  and see what happens.

There are two alfresco things you have to start.

./alfresco.sh start
./virtual_alf.sh start

Hi,

I alway felt that the most interesting was to watch the catalina log.
cd "<alfresco folder>/tomcat/logs" and enter the command "tail -f catalina.out".
Then you can really see everything which is happening till startup. It ends with starting the catalina webserver. This can take some time. If something goes wrong you'll see the error message.

The
Successfully initialized web framework
is waaaaay before the application is ready to handle requests.

Here are the last lines in the log before the app is ready:

INFO: Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-8080
Feb 11, 2009 11:07:49 AM org.apache.catalina.startup.Catalina start
INFO: Server startup in 130777 ms

Note on my laptop, it took about 2 minutes and 11 seconds from when I ran "alf_start.sh" until tomcat finished deploying everything.

Hi,

Thanks everyone for your kind suggestions.
      Thanks jan and tvaughan.
I went through the catalina.out log file.
       Everything was going good.
Alfresco finally ran after 4 minutes.
       Thanks a lot.
