We're planning to install Alfresco on a Virtual Server (VMWare) . For this we would like to know if it is possible to install Alfresco on a nfs share which would give us more flexiblity for backup and restore.

thx

Hi

The indexes can not be on NFS at the moment.

This is due to limitiations with both the version of lucene we use and the layer we have on top. We will upgarde to lucene 2.2 and add the NFS fixes they have tested to our own index management around transactions.

is it still possible to have the contentstore and not the indexes in a NFS mount?

Hi Andy,

I used an nfs mount with both indexes and contentstore (this I won't do on my producion platform for performance matters).
It seems to work fine, but I am a bit worried about this.

I am using Alfresco enterprise edition 2.1. Solaris 10/Websphere 6.1

is that problem still up to date on this version? If so I may have to update my testing platforms
What are the symptoms?

Many Thanks
Stephane

Hello,

we have the alfresco-enterprise-tomcat-2.1.1 bundle for Solaris 10 installed,
only one machine is writing the index (which is located on a NetApp filer).
Is there any information around, whether there are still known problems
with Lucense indices over NFS ?

Best regards,
Alex
