Hello,

I have the exact same messageof error, except that I'm running on XP Pro instead of server 2003 and I choose the default configuration for installation, which include sharePoint.

Does anyone else have encountered this problem or has a workaround for it ?  This problem seems fairly new as I found very little information googling it.

Finally, there is no logfile at this point of the installation.

I finally did a clean install of Windows XP and it did the trick.  Alfresco installed itself perfectly this time.  It is not the perfect solution, but at least it works.

Hi,

I have the same problem installing alfresco-enterprise-3.4.3-installer-win-x64.exe on a newly installed Windows 2008 Enterprise R2 x64.

Exact error message is:

There has been an error
Error running initdb.exe -U SYSTEM -E UTF8 -D
C:/Alfresco/alf_data/POSTGR~1 : Program ended with an error exit code
The application will exit now.

Thanks.

I was able to solve the problem by giving USERS group write/modify permissions over c:\Alfresco.

I know this is an old post but I had this problem on first install and found this via Google.  If you right-click the install and run as Administrator the problem will be resolved.
