Hello everybody

I want to install the version community version of Alfresco 3.4b on a new linux server (Centos 5.5).

After I download alfresco-community-3.4.b.zip and alfresco-community-wcmqs-3.4.b.zip. I unzip the alfresco file but after I did'nt know what I need to do.

I want to find the Mysql script for create the alfresco database but I didn't find the db_setup.sql.
In addition, I would like to install the alfresco and wcmqs wars on the tomcat webapps directory and the alfresco files into /home/alfresco.
This directory /home/alfresco will have the alf_data.

I didn't know how do it ??  :?  so if someone can help me, it will be great !!

Best Regards

Hydras

Any reason why you aren't using the installer provided?  Example – alfresco-community-3.4.b-installer-linux-x32.bin

Hello Steve

In my company, we have some recommandations about how install applications. For example, we install all the applications on /home/<application directory>. With this way, anybody can find directly the configuration or log files.

So I would like to install the share.war and the alfresco.war into /home/tomcat/webapps but I need to create the shared and the classes directory.
I try yesterday to to it but I have some errors into the catalina.out (Could not obtain connection metadata org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Communications link failure))

I would like to link the alfresco database to another Mysql Server. So I configure the alfresco-global.properties but I didn't do it well.

Finally, I didn't success to configure it i will install the all-in-one package as you give me.

Thanks you

Hydras

The all-in-one installer does allow you configure the system to use an existing MySQL database.

Hello Steve

For the existing Mysql database,  I see it on the documentation. In the last version all-in-one bundle (3.4b), I find the Mysql scripts on /opt/alfresco-3.4.b/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/dbscripts/create/org.hibernate.dialect.MySQLInnoDBDialect.
But which scripts I need to used ??

If I want to configure Alfresco to an existing Mysql database, I need to configure the alfresco-global.properties file that it ??
# MySQL connection
db.driver=org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
db.url=jdbc:mysql://<Mysql Server IP Address>/alfresco
db.name=alfresco
db.username=alfresco
db.password=alfresco
db.host=Mysql Server IP Address
db.port=3306

This configuration is good or not ??

Finally, my manager want to cut Alfresco solution in 2 zones : one on the Front Office (network 10.x.x.x /24) with the Webservices, the web interface,… and the second one with the Mysql Database and the alf_data directory (network 10.x.x.y /24).
Did you think this type of configuration can be possible or not ??

That is correct, just update the db.url parameter to the location of your existing database.

Yes, that is possible.  Just point db.url in alfresco-global.properties to the remote database.
