Installation 3.4a on Ubuntu 10.04 64bit noGUI (solved)

I've successfully installed the latest 3.4a Community on Ubuntu 10.04 server (64bit) with no X.

Initially the Alfresco document previews were not working due to ImageMagick and swftools not running
because of lib problems.

This documentation worked for me. 
The only issue I ran into was that during the update of the SWFTOOLS the gif2swf library could not be found.  If someone else runs into this problem and solves it please let me know.  It would be nice to be able to preview gif files also.

question about alfresco-global.properties
shouldn't the following line in alfresco-global.properties "img.exe=/usr/local/bin/convert" continue to point to /opt/alfresco/common/bin/convert, considering link was created in that directory?

anywho, still having issue previewing xls, doc, docx and png files.
any help is appreciated!

my environment:
ubuntu 10.04 64bit
alfresco 3.4.a
installed Imagemagick and swftools as per instructions

try changing your img.root  in the global properties to img.root=/usr

I originally did the same thing and conversions failed, when I pointed it back to /usr/local/bin/ it worked for me?

My systems is previewing png, odt (openoffice), doc ( from openoffice),  pdf.   Check that all your binaries in /opt/alfresco/common/bin/ can
actually be executed from the command line without a segfault or other issue.

second, i resolved viewing doc, xls and text by changing couple of line in alfresco-global.properties, see below.

now png or jpegs images uploaded in you profile does not work. any ideas?

Hello!

Can you please share with me the installation steps and source files you used to install alfresco community 3.4 on ubuntu? i'm interested in installing alfresco 3.4b un Ubuntu server 9.04, but I'm a noob in the Alfresco on Ubuntu environment, I managed to install 3.2 in 9.04, but I need the latest version, can anyone please give me some advice, thanks in advance!
