Instaling alfresco without using tomcat

it can be possible to install alfesco witout tomcat? can i simply config Apache HTTP Server to do everything that tomcat does?

No.   You need a Java Application Server, like Tomcat, WebSphere, JBOSS or WebLogic.    Which Apache HTTP Server is not.


Actually that's not strictly true. For example the old SDK gave examples of running alfresco in embedded mode.   However for most cases I think my above answer stands.
