I think this is the most appropriate subforum for this question.
Does anyone have any experience with a CMS named InfoSource? We have a question from a customer that wants to know how difficult it would be for them to step over to Alfresco. Of course this would also mean migrating the already existing data in their current CMS.
I'm researching this for a bit, but I can't seem to find much info about InfoSource. What I did find out is that it was developed by Belgian company Trisoft (which is now SDL Trisoft, and they offer a new CMS). InfoSource seems to be limited to an Oracle database, uses Verity search as its search engine and stores documents in an XML format somewhere. There is supposedly an API we can use, but I don't know how reliable this source is.
We're expecting to hear back from our customer sometime this week with more info, but it never hurts to be prepared
I know it's a long shot, since it looks like a pretty obscure CMS, but you never know …
What I could suggest for the migration part would be to use an ETL tool. You will be able to migrate data with the ETL tool. There are open source ETL tools.
Talend Open Studio is an open source ETL tool for data integration and migration experts. It's easy to learn for a non-technical user. What distinguishes Talend, when it comes to business users, is the tMap component. It allows the user to get a graphical and functional view of integration processes.
