indexing model

hi there,
i'm a student and as a part of my studies i'm working on managing of bank client files and i need to create an indexing model i don't know what exactly i should do do i write an xml file about the properties of the document or what exactly. and if that's what i should do , how can i apply it on alfresco
please help me and thank you.

Alfresco is ready to index your files out-of-the-box. There is nothing additional you need to do other than add the files to the repository.

If you have custom metadata that you'd like to configure by extending the content model, you can do that. <a href="http://ecmarchitect.com/alfresco-developer-series-tutorials/content/tutorial/tutorial.html">Here</a> is a tutorial that shows you how.
