Incorrect metadata for uploaded files

Hi

I have just started tinkering with Alfresco 3.4.d as a file repository for Moodle 2.1.1

I'm using an 'out-of-the-box' Alfresco 3.4.d community bundle installed on CentOS 5 Linux.

Have noticed that files (e.g. PDF, .doc) uploaded via the Explorer (/alfresco) interface do not seem to be associated with the correct metadata (mimetype) and are also invisible to Moodle via its Alfresco repository interface (file-picker).

However, the very same files, uploaded via the /share interface, are associated with the correct metadata and are visible to Moodle.

Modify Content Properties (View details >> Modify) displays different results depending on the upload route. A PDF file uploaded via /share has the correct Content Type (Adobe PDF) whereas the same file uploaded via /alfresco does not even have the Content Type option/attribute (and I can't see any obvious way to add it).

Any suggestions?

Is there a configuration option or template for Explorer (/alfresco) that can be used to fix this?

Cheers

Geoff

Stumbled across a solution to this:

http://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=169345#p742902

Simply had to switch from 'Article' to 'Content' in the 'Add Content Dialog'. Now files have appropriate Metadata and are visible to Moodle.

A couple of follow-up questions

1. I may well be overlooking something obvious, but is there a direct way to switch already uploaded files from 'Article' to 'Content' i.e. without re-uploading them?

2. Is there a way of configuring the 'Add Content Dialog' to default to 'Content' rather than 'Article'?

Cheers

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

maybe it's possible tp create a rule in Alfresco, which affects the folder with the PDF files and set the rule to "specialize type".
Then the rule changes all documents in that folder to the type "content".
I use rules for converting Office documents to PDF.
