i read the topic on inbound mail though i have not used that and i am still trying with outbound. i am having some basic questions….will anybody spare some time and explain me the basics…
   1)what is inbound mail server?
   2)how we can send the mail from alfresco.(i read the .properties setting but not getting from where that Inbox@alfresco.com comes?)
   3) the host will be the local machine or something else means alfresco himself??
   4) in what scenario the inbound is useful?

As per your statement, I am guessing you have read the WIKI article about Inbound Email Configuration.

Advantage of this feature is – Alfresco supports the ability to email content directly to specific nodes.
In this way, users can send assets into the repository directly into spaces - without even logging into Alfresco.
