Importing entire repository

I use the import/export functionality from Administrative console.

I can export the entire repository easily (when I select the radio-Complete Repository). Then after creating
.acp file to a space, I download that acp file to my local pc.

Now when I import the acp file, i get the following error.
Failed to execute import: org.alfresco.service.cmr.view.ImporterException: Failed to import package at line 8; column 19 due to error: A complete repository package cannot be imported here

A complete repository export can only be imported into the root of the store.

I think I am stuck at the same issue. :s

Got a full repository Export from an Alfresco 2.1 (6 files by the way) and trying to find the magic key to make a full repository IMPORT in a new Alfresco 3.0 installation.

Went through the Alfresco Wiki, searched google up and down, so far didn't find the answer. Smiley Sad

Help and hints are appreciated,

Thanks alot,

Tom

Hm .. I went through following steps explained in http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Export_and_Import#Bootstrap_destination_Repository_from_ACP_files_expo...

The steps for configuring the bootstrap process for a full restore are:

   1. Install Alfresco, but do not start (or ensure existing Alfresco installation is configured against an empty database and file system).
   2. Rename existing restore-context.xml.sample to restore-context.xml and place into the configuration extension directory /alfresco/extension.
   3. By default, restore-context.xml assumes a package name of 'export' was used. If this is not the case, replace all occurrences of 'export' with your package name.
   4. Create a directory called restore within /alfresco/extension.
   5. Place the exported files from the source Repository into /alfresco/extension/restore.
   6. Start Alfresco

If configured correctly, log messages detailing the import of each backup file are presented to the Alfresco server console.

However this description seems to be for an older version V1-2, not 3, some path obviously have changed, e.g. Alfrese\extension now is  Alfresco\tomcat\shared\classes\alfresco\extension

I adapted restore.xml, prepared the restore folder, all on a fresh, never started, Alfresco, then started Alfresco which returns an error after several minutes working:
org.alfresco.error.AlfrescoRuntimeException: System Info Bootstrap failed and Caused by: org.alfresco.service.cmr.repository.InvalidStoreRefException

After that, surprise, surprise, no working alfresco is available on 8080.

I am kind of lost here, the whole issue seems to be poorly documented.
Am I the only one trying to import a full repository export from Alfresco 2.1 to 3.0?

Thanks for help'n hints,

Tom

Hi,

Look at the information on the Wiki - it's all there…

Hi Steve,

thanks for your reply, but it's not all there   I want to import an entire repository from 2.1 to 3.0 (as the subject says). I don't want to upgrade anything. I simply got 6 repository files which I want to import to Alfresco 3.0, remember what I said above - InvalidStoreRefException from restore-context.xml …

Read my post above - please - thanks a alot.  And thanks again for giving reply so I don't feel too lost and lonely with my Alfresco difficulties/challenges,

Tom

Complete repository export/import is not to be used as the way to upgrade. It is only supported between the same versions.
So you need to import into 2.1, then upgrade following http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/General_Upgrade_Process

Sounds great! So where can I download Alfresco 2.1? Only found 3.0 versions for download. Thanks, Tom
