Import Failing....

I am trying to perform an import with the binding parm set to UPDATE_EXISTING and it is failing with a "Duplicate child name found." 

I think it started failing when I upgraded to 2.1, but not completely sure.

I did a simple test of creating a space folder with one file of content.  Exported the content and then reimported with UPDATE_EXISTING and I contiue to get the below exception.  I have also tried, REMOVE_EXISTING and REPLACE_EXISTING with the same exception.

I do notice at the end of the stack trace it appears to be using $CreateNewNodeImporterStrategy.importNode…

I will start tracing more code but not sure were to go with it…..

I'm having the exact same problem, so I decided to create a Test where I can import content into the repository. The first time works OK, second one fails with a DuplicateChildNodeNameException. Changing the UUID binding parameter does not affect the result.

That's a bit annoying if you want a module to bootstraps every time the server starts. For example, if your module has a template and you want to reinstall the module because that template changed, you might probably want to bootstrap that module again (mind there's still no "module uninstaller" available yet). Hence, duplicate child node name constraint stops you from doing that.

If my memory serves me correctly (after hours of pouring through code), the import will only "update" a file based upon UUID, not the filename.

The UUID MUST Match between the existing system and the imported file xml.  Your XML file you are importing does not specify a UUID for the file so it will assume it needs to create a new one and attempt to do so (thus the duplicate child node).

Well, your memory is just fine, because that was the problem. By not specifying a UUID for the content I was bootstraping, the UUID binding was being ignored. Setting a UUID for each content inside the bootstrap xml files did the trick..
