How to update sandbox files

Hi,

I am using version Alfresco version2.1
I have installed the sample website and am trying to edit the index.jsp file as an example.
While I can edit this file and get the staging sandbox to reflect this modified content. no matter what I try, the file in my user sandbox is fixed at the file that the project was created with.
When I look at the versions of this file, I see the different versions that I have uploaded in the past.
How do I get the system to step onto the latest version of a file so that this file is viewed by clicking on the file icon?

It looks like this was a product of a web project that had got into a corrupted state. When I created the web project, this issue vanished and the main file link showed the latest approved file content as expected
