How to stop search on Mobile from returning unwanted results

Hi,

I'm new to trying out Alfresco, I'm running Community version 4d and have my iPhone configured to the server we are using. I'm interested to know if there is any way to stop unwanted search results from being presented to the user?

For example, I have created a Wiki page called Wiki Rich Content Instructions. When I execute a search for "Wiki"on my mobile I get a huge amount of XML file returns when the only valid return (from a user presepective) is the wiki_rich_content_instructions.html page.

Regards,
Conrad

Hmm, that's strange. What are those XML files? Are they documents someone has added to your repository?

When you do your search, what's selected under "Search In"? Only your repository?

On a fresh 4.0.d install if I go create a test site with a wiki page with the same title as yours and do a search for "wiki" I only see that wiki page returned.

I'm using Alfresco 4.0.d and Alfresco Mobile 1.2.1.32.

Hi Jeff,

Sorry its taken so long to reply. We had an issue with Alfresco and needed to reinstall it.

Even with the second installation from scratch I'm still seeing the same results on the mobile search. So here's some examples.

If I search on my name 'conrad' which is also a part of my login ID I get the following results:
page.component-1-1.user~…xml
page.component-1-2.user~…xml
page.component-2-1.user~…xml
page.component-2-2.user~…xml
page.title.user~conrad.dorr…xml

Doing a search for 'wiki' results in:
wiki rich content data tab…xml
wiki rich content google-c….xml
wiki rish content TOC.xml
wiki rich content video…xml
wiki rich content.xml

I am logged in as the administrator. If I log in as a normal user without Admin rights I do not get these results. This may be an undocumented feature?

Regards,
Conrad

Yes, I see what you mean now. Those files page.component.* files are Surf configuration files that tell Surf how a user's dashboard is configured. They should definitely NOT be showing up in a mobile search. They are excluded from Share search results, so clearly there needs to be a similar tweak for Mobile here.

According to this Jira, the issue has been fixed in 4.0 Enterprise. That means we should see the fix in the next Community release.

I can't get the "wiki rich content" files to show up like you are seeing. I'm running on an out-of-the-box 4.0.d Community install, WAR-only, Lucene.

Regardless, it is probably the same issue.

Hmm, I'm not seeing any XML files appearing using a 4.x or 3.4.x server.

Regardless, further investigation is required so i've raised https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/MOBILE-188 to track this issue.

Please feel free to add further details to the issue i.e. the exact steps you took in Share and the exact steps used in the mobile client.

I updated the Jira with steps to re-create and an iPad screenshot.
